This thread is to Teach you the benefits of Slayer for your Pure accounts.

Introduction Of Slayer:

Slayer is a Members-Only Skill which is very popular for training,and the Drops and Rewards you recieve from levelling this and slaying the monsters you unlock at different levels. The Slayerexperience you recieve from killing a monster is usually around 1/10th (10%) of the target Monsters Hitpoints. For example ; A Blue Dragon has 1100 Hitpoints , so when you kill it you recieve 107.6 Slayer Experience , which is nearly equal to 1/10th of the Hitpoints. If the monster you are attacking on a Slayer Task has been injured or is being attacked,the experience is split up ; for example: The person who gets the LAST hit recieves Half of the Experience gained,and the person who does the MOST damage recieves the other half , if you do more damage and get the last hit you will recieve the full amount of Experience.


Training Slayer:

The Dwarven multicannon is a very good weapon.It hits high at any level,and is unequippable. This leads to extremely fast kills and thus fast Slayer and Ranged experience. Unfortunately there are also negatives that come with the positives. It is expensive to maintain,can break meaning you need to go to a Dwarf to get it back and gives NO Hitpoints Experience.
The Cannon costs 770.8k GP Currently from the Grand Exchange.
It fires Cannonballs http://images2.wikia.nocookie.net/__cb20110213114416/runescape/images/thumb/7/73/Cannonball_detail.png/100px-Cannonball_detail.png Which currently cost 231 GP off the Grand Exchange.
This weapon is most potent in Multi-Combat areas and is common to be used versus Dragons and long boring tasks such as Kalphites.
Expect to get flamed for using this,you only need to be on a task with one around you to know why.


Speeding Up Slayer:

Aswell as using a cannon there are other ways to speed up the process of training Slayer.

These are incredibly useful to limit the amount of damage you recieve off Monsters,meaning less time spent banking,and less money spent on food,but more spent on Prayer Potions.
Consider investing in items that give a bonus in Prayer , to slow down the Drain Rate of Prayers , thus spending less money on potions to maintain your use of prayer.

Use of Stat - Boosting Prayers to speed up your tasks:
Stat boosting Prayers are incredibly useful,causing you to take less damage and deal more damage more frequently,meaning you can finish the task faster giving a larger yield of Experience per hour in Slayer and the Stat you are training.

Missing out Chivalry and Piety - As you need 60 And 70 Defence for them - but for your mains it gives a Attack,Strength AND Defence boost in One Prayer.

Curses to Use :

Please note you need to do Temple At Sennitsen to use Ancient Curses.

Potions to use :

Prayer Potion - Restores 2.5 times the player's Prayer level plus 70, resulting in a total restoration of 70-310 Prayer Points.
Super Attack Potion - Boosts attack by 15% Of your Level Plus 5.
Super Antipoison - Cures Poison and provides immunity for 6 Minutes - very useful.
Super Strength Potion - Boosts Strength by 15% of your level plus 5.
Super Defence Potion - Boosts Defence by 15% of your level plus 5.
Antifire Potion - Provides resistance from Dragon breath - use combined with Anti-Dragon shield against metal dragons.
Ranged Potion - Raises Ranged by 10% of your level plus 4.
Magic Potion - Boosts your Magic Level by 5.

Untradeable Potions:
Recover Special - Recovers Special attack bar by 25% a Dose , can drink 1 dose per 30 seconds.
Super Antifire - Protects you 100% from Dragonbreath - Doesn't require Anti-Dragon Shield.
Extreme Attack - Boosts attack by 5-26 Levels.
Extreme Strength - Boosts Strength by 5-26 Levels.

Extreme Defence - Boosts Defence by 5-26 Levels.

Extreme Magic - Boosts Magic by 7 Levels

Extreme Ranging - Boosts Ranged 4-23 Levels.
Overload - Effect of ALL Extreme Potions - Takes 500 Lifepoints off you,but cannot kill you - Gain 500 Lifepoints again at end of the 5 minutes - Saradomin Brews do not lower effects of this.

Summoning in Slayer:

http://images2.wikia...wolf_detail.png Summoning is incredibly useful in Slayer , there are familiars which can assist in combat via healing,carry items,boosting stats and dealing damage.I will list some of the most useful familiars to use.

http://images4.wikia..._terrorbird.png Spirit Terrorbird - Very useful - scroll replenishes run energy,useful for tasks which take alot of running to get there etc; and also stores 12 food.

http://images3.wikia...pirit_kyatt.png Spirit Kyatt - Scroll hits 250 - Good for multi combat summoning enabled areas to help you with fights.

http://images4.wikia...70px-Bunyip.png  Bunyip - Restores a Health Point every 15 seconds and scroll (Swallow Whole) allows you to eat raw food through it - useful for camping stuff such as Waterfiends.

Please note some of these familiars give Defence Experience , and it is not my fault if you get defence in a multi way area using aggressive familiars - so do not blame me.

It is crafted from a Spiny helmet, a Facemask, Earmuffs, a Nosepeg, an uncharged Black mask, a focus sight and a hexcrest with 55 Crafting.Requires 10 Defence to wear.

Benefits of Slayer:

Finally we get to the point of the thread - The Benefits of Slayer .

This is mainly from a pures perspective so it won't include stuff for mains only.

Items unlocked from Slayer:

Broad-Tipped Bolts - Used to kill Kurasks and Turoths.Requires 55 Slayer to use. They are extremely good for Returning and training for pures - they have the exact same bonuses as Adamant Bolts - but Adamant bolts are currently ~190gp on the Grand Exchange and Broad-Tipped Bolts are ~94gp.Half price - same bonuses - you work the rest out.

Leaf Bladed Sword - Requires 50 Attack and 55 Slayer to use.Probably the best sword for 50 Attack and is comparable to a dragon scimitar,but doesn't hit as high.

Slayer helm - Provides the protection of a Spiny helmet, a Facemask, Earmuffs, a Nosepeg, the +15% attack and strength boost of an uncharged Black mask, the +15% range boost of a Focus Sight, the +15% mage boost of a Hexcrest, with defence bonuses similar to that of a Rune full helm. It is crafted from a Spiny helmet, a Facemask, Earmuffs, a Nosepeg, an uncharged Black mask, a focus sight and a hexcrest with 55 Crafting.Requires 10 Defence to wear.You need to do Smoking Kills and get 400 points to unlock the ability to make it.
As this is equivalent to a Rune Full helm it gives the best bonuses headgear-wise for a pure,meaning it is very important and is good for training and pking and is a good accomplishment to have.It is far better than any other headgear for under 40 defence,especially on slayer tasks.And it also looks cool!

Why else is Slayer good?

Slayer is also good for other things,not just the rewards.

Benefits include:

• Good Experience in combat stats
  
• Good charm drops
  
• Monsters unlocked which drop good value items and clue scrolls
  
• It is a well respected level to have

Please note you will only recieve experience off Slayer Assignments got from Slayer masters.

Burthorpe - Turael - Low level easy tasks - Can reset tasks here,but after Smoking kills it resets your progress.

Canifis - Mazchna - Medium level/difficulty tasks.

Edgeville Dungeon - Vannaka - Medium level/difficulty Tasks.

Zanaris - Chaeldar - Medium Level/Difficulty Tasks.

Pollnivneach - Sumona - Higher level/Harder Difficulty Tasks.

Shilo Village - Duradel - High Level / Hard Difficulty Tasks.

Ancient Cavern - Kuradel - Very high level / Very Hard Difficulty Tasks.

The points you recieve from the master after smoking kills increases depending on the Master - The Higher the Master the more points you recieve.


When you reach 99 Slayer you can buy your cape from Kuradal for 99,000 Coins.
