From the Sig site:
The SIG SAUER® P226® is the pistol that set the standard by which all other combat handguns are measured. Designed as SIG’s entrant in the military trials to replace the 1911, today the P226 is in use by the U.S. Navy SEALs, Federal agents, and numerous law enforcement agencies including the Texas Rangers, Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Michigan State Police to name a few. The exceptional ergonomics and balance make this full-size pistol easy to handle. Available in either 9mm, .357 SIG or .40 S&W, its longer barrel yields better ballistic performance and accuracy.
I've shot a lot of guns in order to find the right one, when you're gonna drop that kind of money on something you damn sure want it to be perfect. This gun was not only one of the best I've shot, It's extremely functional. It's easily as reliable as a Glock, and in my opinion, safer. Although it lacks a safety button, it's got a heavy, but clean 7.5 lb trigger pull for a double action shot and a decocking lever for when you decide you don't need to use the single action capabilities. What this means if you don't fully understand is that like a Glock the trigger itself is the safety mechanism, neither will fire unless the trigger is pulled straight back. But the safety distinction of the 226 over a Glock platform is the weight and travel of the trigger. Glocks have a very small trigger travel before the gun fires because its a single action gun and the hammer is already in firing position, this leads to trained professionals having accidental discharges i.e. officer gets into his car, gun jams on seatbelt, pow bullet thru the ass. The 226 has double action capabilities, meaning the trigger will first move the hammer into firing position and then release it. This means that there is a very long trigger pull, and less of a chance that something could go wrong and cause and accidental discharge. Safety first. This guns reliability and track record speaks for itself. Yeah it's twice as expensive and maybe not as cool as a Glock, but if it's good enough for a Navy SEAL, or a state trooper I'm in!
Here's a torture test completed by idiots.... nonetheless the gun speaks for itself.
What do you guys think?
