Requirements: 62 crafting (or a friend, like me, who has it), 66 magic. Helpful: 70+ Agility.

For those of you that have some money to begin alching but don't necessarily want to go after onyx bolts (e), here's another method that I use.

1. Go to the Magic Guild

2. Buy battlestaves. -- 7k at 5, 7007 at 4, 7014 at 3, 7021 at 2, 7028 at 1.
-- This is a much better offer than Zaff's Staff's in Varrock and is much less crowded.

3a. Go on the Zybez Exchange and try to buy fire orbs. - they're about 1000 each.
-- A lot of buy offers and not many sell offers recently, so if you can't get a sale there look to 3b.
3b. Go on Zybez Exchange and buy unpowered orbs. - they're about 100-150 each. A lot more sell offers.
-- After getting uncharged orbs, you need a fire staff, 3 cosmic runes (per orb), and 27 orbs. The fire obelisk is in Taverly Dungeon near the black dragons.

4. Either craft yourself, or get a friend to craft, the fire orbs and battlestaves into fire battlestaves.

5. Alch fire battlestaves

Costs following "A" method per 100 alchs:
Battlestaves: 701,400
Fire orbs: 110,000
Nature runes: 25,000

Alchs create: 930,000

Profit: +94,000 gp/100 alchs

Costs following "B" method per 100 alchs:
Battlestaves: 701,400
Uncharged orbs: 10,500
Cosmic Runes (3 per charged orb): 45,000
Nature runes: 25,000

Alchs create: 930,000

Profit: +147,900 gp/100 alchs


EDIT: All types of charged battlestaves alch for the same price. It doesn't have to be fire. Air orbs sell frequently on Zybez but are around 1500.
