ermmmmmmm maybe a ...

agility guide and how it helps in wars to make our run last longer l0l :)

As Requested...

A short note: I originally wrote this guide for W46 All Terrain Agility Team. The entire guide is written by me.
And yes I know it's really long, took me over 30 hours to make the entire thing, including testing and making pictures etc. http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif

Agility Guide http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/6517/agilcape.png

Why train agility?

The Agility skill allows you to go across Runescape easier and faster. Upon gaining levels it will allow you to run more in overall
and it will unlock several useful shortcuts which will help you in many ways, ranging from money-making, to questing, to skilling.

Run energy restoration

Agility makes your run energy restore faster.
The time taken to restore 0-100% run energy:

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/8338/energyrestoretable.png

This may not seem worth it by looking at these numbers,
however you will find out that your run energy is drained A LOT slower at a higher Agility level.
You can run A LOT longer distances and need less time to recharge your run again.

The main ways for 1-99 agility

A short summary of how you can train agility the best:

-> Questing (If you like to quest, agility Xp rewards are a nice addition, look further in the guide to find quests with agility related rewards.)
-> Gnome Stronghold Agility Course (1-35)
-> Barbarian Outpost Agility Course (35-40)
-> Brimhaven Agility Arena:
● (40-52) for the Wilderness Agility Course
● (40-60) for the Bandos Throne Room Agility Course
● (40-65) for the Ape Atoll Agility Course
-> Wilderness Agility Course (52-60/65/70)
-> Bandos Throne Room Agility Course (60-65/70)
-> Ape Atoll Agility Course:
W46 All Terrain Agility team is highly recommended!
● (65-85/90)
-> Advanced Gnome Stronghold Course (85-90/99):
W46 All Terrain Agility team is highly recommended!
-> Advanced Barbarian Outpost Course (90/99)

First off, I left out quite a few courses as you can see, these may be a bit faster at some levels, but are simply not worth it for the minutes/hour you save by doing them. As you can see there are several courses to go to get your agility up, further in this guide you will find the main information and training tips about these courses. This may help you in your decision and support you to your agility goal!

Important notes:

While you are training agility, you must at all times:
- Bring no armour! Except for weight decreasing gear. (boots of lightness, penance gloves, spotted/spottier cape, Agile top and Agile legs) Note that even though -36kg is the minimum, it does NOT affect your run energy any different then 0kg would.
(More about these weight decreasing items later in the guide.)
- Ever since the rest update, energy restoring items are no longer needed to train agility, at higher levels you will now rarely drop below 90% energy.
- Cakes are the best food for agility because they don’t weight much and allow you to stay around a constant health because they heal 4 per bite.
- The Penance horn, a reward from the Barbarian Assault minigame is a !very! useful tool to train agility, especially at the higher levels. A full explanation about this item can be found later on in the guide!
- If you are failing a lot on a certain course, it’s useful to take Agility potions (temporary raises agility level by 3 per dose) or summer pies (temporary raises agility level by 5 per bite and restores 10% energy aswell as 11 hp!)
- Using the Enhanced Excalibur’s special attack may reduce your food consumption on the long run, and will allow you to stay at the course for a longer time. This item is a reward of the Hard Seer’s Village Achievement Diary.
- Try training with friends! This will make the running a lot more pleasant and time will pass faster. (Race each other or play games like tag.)
- Keep your hitpoints between 20-30 while training on a failable course. This will reduce the damage per fall and will therefore cost less food!!!
- Try to train a course without changing your screen angle, this doesn’t work for all courses but if you can train courses with a static screen it is a lot easier from most peoples experience.

Gnome Stronghold Agility Course

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/6448/gnomecourse2.png

The Gnome Stronghold Course is the course you start at. You can’t fail here so it's an easy beginning.
The purpose of this course is to complete a full lap in order to get an Xp bonus at the end.

The Xp rate for this course is around 6k Xp per hour.
This will get you 35 agility in about 4 hours from level 1.

Inventory

Nothing needed to run here.

How to get there

http://img202.imageshack.us/img202/4373/gnomecourse.png

Tips

You should have no trouble doing this course, it’s just an introduction to the way agility works. Try to run the laps as fast as you can to practice
for later courses. You can do quests (which are mentioned later) during these levels to shorten the training time.
The Tree Gnome village and The Grand tree (25 agility needed) quests are highly recommended to get there.

Continueing the Gnome Stronghold Course after level 35 is not recommended as the Barbarian Agility Course will give better Xp.
Time to move on!

Barbarian Outpost Agility Course

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8330/barbcourse2.png

You can enter the Barbarian outpost agility course once you are level 35. However you must first finish the Alfred Grimhand Barcrawl miniquest.
(talk to the barbarian guard at the entrance of the course) You do fail at this course so it’s important to take food to restore your lost hitpoints.
The purpose of this course is to complete a full lapin order to get an Xp bonus in the end.

The Xp rate at this course is around 14k Xp per hour.
This should get you 40 agility in only 1 hour from level 35.

You can use other types of food, but cakes are recommended.

How to get there

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/7690/barbcourse.png

Tips

You will be introduced to the failing obstacles part in agility.
Try to stay positive, don’t let the failing stop you from training http://illiweb.com/fa/i/smiles/icon_smile.gif.
If you are having difficulties with the Grimhand Barcrawl Miniquest, use a guide.

Continueing the Barbarian Agility Course after level 40 is not recommended as the Brimhaven Agility Arena will give better Xp.
It’s again time to move on!

Brimhaven Agility Arena

http://img59.imageshack.us/img59/448/brimhavencourse2.png

At 40 agility, it’s best to go to the Brimhaven Agility Arena. You can now take all obstacles here,
though you will fail a lot and when hit by the poisonous darts, your agility level temporary lowers by 2.

The point of this arena is, when you enter you must tag the first pillar with the flashing arrow above it.
For every additional next pillar you can tag in a row, you will get 1 agility ticket.
The flashing arrow will move to the next pillar after 1 minute. (so the max. tickets per hour is 60)

Note that randoms will teleport you, it may cause you to miss the next pillar,
you will have to tag another pillar to start again, however you will still keep your tickets if you miss one.

It’s best to do one of these options to continue training after Brimhaven:
● Get 52 agility for the Wilderness Agility course.
This requires about 300 tickets which takes around 5 hours from level 40.
● Get 60 agility for the Bandos Throne Room Agility course
This requires about 750 tickets which takes around 13 hours from level 40.
● Get 65 agility for the Ape Atoll Agility course
This requires about 1k tickets which takes around 17 hours from level 40.

Only trade in tickets in amounts of 100’s and 1000’s!
If you trade your tickets before that you will get a lot less Xp per ticket.

Amount of Tickets

Reward

1

240 xp per ticket

3

1 Clean Toadflax Herb

5

1 Clean Wergali Herb

10

1 Clean Snapdragon Herb

10

248 xp per ticket

25

260 xp per ticket

100

280 xp per ticket

800

1 Pirate's Hook

1000

320 xp per ticket

Karamja Achievement diary gloves 2/3:

Wearing these while trading tickets will increase the Xp rewards,
and you will receive a 10% Xp bonus at every obstacle you take in the arena.

Inventory

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8356/brimhaveninventory.png

1 open inventory spot for agility tickets.
You can use other types of food, but cakes are recommended.

How to get there

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/8375/brimhavencourse.png

Tips

It is recommended to take Karamja gloves 2 or 3 from the Karamja achievement diary.
Karamja gloves 2 will boost the Xp gained per obstacle and per ticket traded which speeds up training nicely.
Karamja gloves 3 give you free entrance cost to the arena aswell as the Xp bonuses of gloves 2.
Completing the Rocking Out quest also gives you a free entrance reward for the arena.
You may find this course very frustrating, especially when you miss a ticket or fail often on a certain obstacle.
Try to stay positive and get the hang of it. Try to avoid the poisonous darts as much as you can (so don’t
take them unless you have to take a detour which causes you to miss the ticket)
Agility potions/ summer pies are highly recommended here!

Continueing Brimhaven after level 65 is not recommended as the Ape Atoll Agility Course will give way better Xp.
Guess what…it’s time to move on! (again)

Wilderness Agility Course

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/3729/wildycourse2.png

At 52 agility you can enter the Wilderness Agility Course.
This course has a few up and downsides compared to Brimhaven-, Bandos Throne room- and Ape Atoll Agility courses.
The purpose of this course is to complete a full lapin order to get an Xp bonus at the end.

The Xp rate for this course is around 37k Xp per hour. (a bit more or less depending on your level)
It’s best to do one of these options to continue training after the wilderness course:
● Get 60 agility for the Bandos Throne Room Agility Course.
This takes around 4 hours from level 52.
● Get 65 agility for the Ape Atoll Agility Course.
This takes around 9 hours from level 52.
Or 70 agility in about 16-17 hours.

Upsides:
You fail less than at the other 3 courses mentioned above.
You can have a spirit terrorbird summoned while running here.

Downsides:
Revanants are the biggest problem here, since you are in level 54 wilderness, revenants from nearly any level can attack you!

Inventory

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/9229/wildyinventoryq.png

A few better food can be useful when encountering revanants.

How to get there

http://img714.imageshack.us/img714/5151/wildycourse.png

Tips

Try training with more people so you can kill the revenants together.
Don’t risk anything you won’t need, this is a high risk area!

Revanants may cause a lot of damage if you don’t kill them in time or run/hop.
Wearing a dragon dagger and dragonhide armor are highly recommended!
If you don’t take a dragon dagger, bring a knife to cut through webs.

Continueing the Wilderness Course after level 65 is not recommended as the Ape Atoll Agility Course will give better Xp.
It’s once again time to move on!

Bandos Throne Room Agility Course

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/9182/thronecourse2.png

This agility course is accessible after the “The Chosen Commander” quest.
You will need 60 agility, strength and ranged to train here.
This course has a few up and downsides compared to Brimhaven-, Wilderness- and Ape Atoll Agility courses.
The purpose of this course is to complete a full lap in order to get an Xp bonus at the end.
This course will give you 380 agility and 125 strenght and ranged Xp per completed lap.

The Xp rate for this course is around 37k agility Xp per hour, and around 11k strength and ranged Xp.
(a bit more or less depending on agility level)

To continue training after the wilderness course you should get 65 agility for the Ape Atoll Agility Course.
This takes around 5 hours from level 60.
(with an additional 57,8k strength and ranged Xp)
Or 70 agility in about 13-14 hours from level 60.
(with 152,5k strength and ranged Xp)

Upsides:
The additional strength and ranged Xp while training!
Very few energy used compared to the other courses.

Downsides:
You have to click constantly and must focus 100% at all times to run at this course.
This will make you unable to do other things or even chat at all without slowing you down a lot.
4 Quests must be completed in order to train here.

Inventory

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/213/throneinventory.png

You can use other types of food, but cakes are recommended.

Mithril grapple and a crossbow (mithril+) MUST be wielded to complete this course.

How to get there

There are only 2 ways to get to this course. It’s best to use a Bandos Throne Room sphere.
You can buy these at Oldak for 2 law runes and 1 molten glass each. Oldak is located in the north-west of Dorgesh-Kaan.

The second way to reach the course is by using the Fairy Ring Code BLQ which will take you to Yu’biusk.
Here you will find that you can use the chest through which Zanik found her way to the throne room.

Tips

Try to keep focusing on this course, it is better to train with your private chat off here because any chatting slows you down a lot.

Continueing the Bandos Throne Room Course after
level 70 is not recommended as Ape Atoll Agility Course
will give better Xp. And it’s once again time to move on!

Ape Atoll Agility Course

http://img5.imageshack.us/img5/3759/apecourse2.png

At 48 agility you can enter the Ape Atoll Agility Course, but it is not recommended to go here until 65+ agility
because you will fail a lot below this level!! You will no longer fail this course after level 75 agility.
You can only enter the course while wearing a small or medium sized ninja monkey greegree.
This can be created during or after the Monkey Madness quest (you don’t have to finish this quest to train at Ape Atoll)

This course has a few up and downsides compared to the Wilderness-, Bandos Throne Room- and Dorgesh-Kaan courses.
The purpose of this course is to simply complete a full lap, this course does not give an Xp bonus. (however still 580 Xp per lap)

The Xp rate for this course is around 45-50k Xp per hour (a bit more or less depending on your level), with a max. of 54k.

It’s best to do one of these options to continue training after the Ape Atoll course:
● Get 85 agility for the Advanced Gnome Stronghold Agility Course.
This takes around 55 hours from level 65 or 50 hours from level 70.
● Get 90 agility for the Advanced Barbarian Outpost Agility Course.
This takes around 105 hours from level 65 or 100 hours from level 70.
● Or if you prefer to train here, you can get 99 agility in 240-270 hours from level 70 (time depending on your speed.)

At level 80 you may want to switch to the Dorgesh-Kaan Agility course, however this is completely up to own preference.
The Dorgesh-Kaan course is only slightly faster after 80 agility, but you will have to get used to
a completely new course which is again failable and you will only need it for a very short time (until 85 for the advanced gnome course).

Upsides:
Very easy access through the Ape Atoll teleport spell.
Free food grows next to the course, take a knife to cut these pineapples (heals 2 per ring, 8 in total)
You can’t fail after level 75, this means food is no longer needed!
No random events while in monkey form. (so no slowing you down)
You get to be a monkey?!?

Downsides:
Getting the ninja monkey greegree seems annoying to a lot of people, however this only takes 10 minutes if you know how.
Read a Monkey Madness quest guide if you don’t remember how to make a monkey greegree.

Inventory

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/5368/apeinventory.png

The knife is used to cut pineapples for food (no longer needed after 70 agility).
You may aswell want to bring cakes as additional food.

Tips

W46 All Terrain Agility Team (formerly known as W46 Ape Atoll Agility Team) is a player made team
where 15% of the total amount of people with 99 agility got their agility cape.
It has been around for over 2 years and is known as the best placeto train for any 65+ level.
Not only is it fun to train in a group, you will also meet a lot of new people and friends to support you with your goal.
This team is free for everyone to join in and has over 200 active runners training every week
and a niceteam crew which is happy to help you anytime!

The Awowogei Recipe for Disaster subquest is highly recommended as it unlocks the Ape Atoll Teleport spell (64 magic needed).

Try running this course as fast as you can, it is easy to learn to get nearly the maximum Xp per hour here (54k).

If you have difficulties to click on the swinging rope, try to keep your screen angle all the way up
while facing northeast/northwest or just north. After the skullslope, click on the minimap to approach the swinging rope.
Click the higher part of the rope once it appears in your screen.
While you are swinging the rope, click on the tree to the long vine already, so you spare some time each lap by taking it in one go.

Advanced Gnome Stronghold Agility Course

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/2228/advancedgnomecourse.png

When attempting this course, it has been a long time since you last trained here!
You will need atleast 85 agility to train here. You will no longer fail this course after level 89 agility.
Just like the lower level course, the purpose of this course is to complete a full lap in order to get an Xp bonus in the end,
however you will now be taking a slightly different route than the low level route.
After climbing the branches twice, you will discover a third branch on the spot west of you to take you to the top level.
Here you can do the spectacular wall run over the sign, followed by swinging the poles and ending by jumping inside the pipe.

The Xp rate for this course is around 60k Xp per hour, with a max. of 65k!!
On this course you can either:
● Get 90 agility for the Advanced Barbarian Outpost Agility Course.
This takes around 34 hours from level 85.
● Get 99 agility if you prefer to train here.
This takes around 163 hours from level 85.

Inventory

Some food is optional if you are below level 89 agility.

How to get there

http://img11.imageshack.us/img11/4373/gnomecourse.png

Tips

Practice on maximizing your Xp per hour here without moving your screen angle,
seeing as you will run here for a long time you will save some time by doing so.
I do not recommend to go here from lvl 80-85 with Agility enhancers, as it is way too much of a hassle for only a bit more experience.
The Tree Gnome village and The Grand tree 25 agility needed quests are highly recommended to get there.
You should normally have done both.

Advanced Barbarian Outpost Agility Course

http://img4.imageshack.us/img4/7420/advancedbarbcourse.png

You may never have trained here before, or it has been a very long time!
You will need atleast 90 agility to train here and if you haven’t already, you will need to do the Grimhand Barcrawl Miniquest.
You will no longer fail this course after level 93 agility.
Just like the lower level course, the purpose of this course is to complete a full lap in order to get an Xp bonus in the end,
however you will now be taking a slightly different route than the low leveled route.
After walking the log across the water, you will discover a part of the southern wall you can use to jump on the building.
Here you can climb up one more level, followed by the hilarious firing device,
after which you perform a cartwheel over a pole and jump the gap, to finish with a stylish roofslide.

The Xp rate for this course is around 63k Xp per hour, with a max. of 68k!!
If you have chosen this course to get 99 agility, doing so will take you 122 hours from level 90.

Inventory

Some food is optional if you are below level 93 agility.

How to get there

http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/7690/barbcourse.png

Tips

Practice on maximizing your Xp per hour here without moving your screen angle,
seeing as you will run here for a long time you will save some time by doing so.
If you are having difficulties with the Grimhand Barcrawl Miniquest, use a guide.

Other Courses:

You may wonder why some courses haven’t been mentioned in this guide so far, this is because
they are not fast enough compared to the ones above.
Here is a little bit of info about these courses:

The Agility Pyramid:

● Located in the south-east of the Kharidian desert.
● 30 Agility required to train here.
● The purpose is to circle around on the pyramid clockwise while
passing obstacles, reaching the top where you can take off the golden
pyramid, exchange it with Simon Templeton for 1k gp each.
● People seem to think this is a good place to train but it is NOT.
● A full lap will give you 1014 Xp
● Upsides: This can be fun to do in a group and gives a little cash reward.
● Downsides: It costs a lot of energy and waterskins. When you fail
you will be dropped 1 level off the pyramid and need to complete it again.
It is a lot slower than the Barbarian course.

The Penguin Agility Course:

● Located far north of the Fremmenik lands and can be
reached the same way as in the Cold War quest.
● 30 agility and Cold War quest are required to train here.
Aswell as the penguin clockwork device from the quest.
● The purpose is to complete a full lap in order to gain an Xp bonus.
● Upsides: A very funny course to train at.
● Downsides: A lot slower than the Barbarian course.

The Werewolf Agility Course:

● Located south-east of Canifis, reached through fairy ring (cks),
walking from Varrock, ancient teleport Kharyrll or the Ectophial teleport.
● 60 agility and Creature of Fenkenstrain quest + the Ring of
Charos from the quest required to train here.
● The purpose is to fetch the stick that the agility boss throws away,
you obtain it after taking several obstacles and bring it to the werewolf
at the end of the course to complete your lap.
● Upsides and Downsides: This course is not bad for 65-70 agility,
it is just not good enough compared to the other courses.
Failing the “deathslide” causes a lot of damage!

The Dorgesh-Kaan Agility Course:

● Located south of the Dorgesh-Kaan city, reached through fairy ring (ajq),
walking from Lumbridge basement or a Dorgesh-Kaan teleport sphere.
● 80 agility and the Lost Tribe and Death to the Dorgeshuun quests
are required to train here.
● The purpose is to help Turgall the goblin who is located in the power station
at the northeastern part of the course. When you talk to him he will give you
a spanner and he will ask you to take a fragile and a heavy item.
Remember the heavy item (cog/lever/powerbox) and go to the old power
station in the south-west by taking the course. When you fail you have
to start all over again. However your task will stay. When you fail with
the item in your inventory it will break and you will have to get it back.
After bringing back the item to Turgall you will receive an Xp bonus.

● Upsides: Slightly faster Xp than the Ape Atoll Agility Course, however
only needed for a few levels so not really important.
● Downsides: Harder to learn after a long time of Ape Atoll.

Quests with agility rewards:

Below is a list of quests which will give you agility Xp rewards.

http://img3.imageshack.us/img3/1134/questrewardlist.png

* Saving Awowogei is a Recipe for Disaster subquest, which
will unlock the Ape Atoll Teleport spell.

Agility Gear

To help you in your agility training, there are several items to decrease your weight and even 2 to increase your experience!

Penance horn/ Master Penance Horn

First off, it does NOT matter which of the 2 you have, they both work the same way. The Penance horn is used to double your experience gained while wearing it for Agility, Mining and Firemaking. Make sure you are wielding the item while training if you do use it!
You can get it at the Barbarian Assault Minigame, trade Commander Connad at the entrance and go to the Misc. tab.

http://img139.imageshack.us/img139/7983/penancehorn.png

http://img248.imageshack.us/img248/4599/penancehorn2.png

It takes about 10 full games (so 10 times 10 waves) to fill up the horn.
I takes around 30 minutes per game if you have a decent team that knows what it’s doing. This is very important as it will save you a lot of time!
So the time to fill your horn completely is 30*10 = 300 minutes = 5 hours.
To find a good clan or even just a team, try looking on the forums.
Very important is to be level 5 in at least 1 of the 4 different roles.

To give you an idea of the rates:

2 Games = 20 waves = 20% = just under 1/4
3 games = 30 waves = 30% = just about 1/3
5 games = 50 waves = 50% = about 1/2
6 games = 60 waves = 60% = just under 2/3
8 games = 80 waves = 80% = over 3/4

Now it’s time to calculate:

Without the horn:
The average Agility xp at the Advanced Gnome Course
is 62k xp/h. (When you use the horn make sure you don't slack at all! )
A full horn lasts for 1.3m Agility xp.
1.3m/62k = 21 hours.
So it takes you 21 hours to get 1.3m agility xp without the horn.

With the horn:
You would get the same xp you did without the horn in 21 hours,
in half the time, so only 10,5 hours now.
Then add on the 5 hours for getting the horn = 15,5 hours.
So it takes 15,5 hours for 1,3m xp with the horn
1,3m/15,5 is an average of 83,8k xp per hour.
Therefore, the horn is definetely worth it!

Keep in mind these are average rates, it is well possible to do this much faster (faster BA games and faster xp per hour),
but it's ofcourse also possible to be slower ;o

Courses I would recommend using this item on are ALL courses ABOVE Brimhaven Agility Arena (It works bad at the arena itself).

Boots of lightness

The boots of lightness reduce your weight by 4,5kg.

To obtain them, you will have to start the Temple of Ikov quest, until the part where you obtain these boots.
You can have more than 1 pair of these boots, just wait at the respawn.
If you have lost your boots you can get them back at the same spot as in the quest.
http://img26.imageshack.us/img26/2204/bootsoflightness.png

To get here you will need a knife to slash the webs and a light source.

Penance gloves

The Penance gloves reduce your weight by 4,5kg

To obtain the Penance gloves, you have to play the Barbarian Assault minigame.
You have to get atleast 175 points in each role to buy them.
If you have lost your gloves you will have to do the minigame again.

http://img21.imageshack.us/img21/4420/penancegloves.png

Spotted/Spottier cape

The spotted cape reduces your weight by 2kg and requires 40 Hunter to wear.
The spottier cape reduces your weight by 4,5kg and requires 66 Hunter to wear.

The spotted cape is obtained by trading 2 Spotted Kebbit furs and 800gp to the Fancy Dress Store Owner in Varrock.
The spottier cape is obtained by trading 2 Dashing Kebbit furs and 800gp to the Fancy Dress Store Owner in Varrock.
But the best option to buy either is buying them from the G.E.

Agile top

The Agile top reduces your weight by 12kg.

To obtain it you will need atleast level 90 agility to run on the Advanced Barbarian Outpost Agility Course.
Here you will have to do 250 laps in total without failing, after which you can talk to Gunnjorn on the course to claim your reward.
