What is commonly called screamo really isn't screamo at all it's metalcore the difference is as follows.

Screamo - A subgenre of hardcore punk that evolved in the early 1990s.  This initially involved a more aggressive offshoot of emo music and used short songs that grafted "intensity to willfully experimental dissonance and dynamics."

Metalcore - a broad fusion genre of extreme metal and hardcore punk.  The name is a blend of the names of the two genres.  Metalcore is distinguished by its emphasis on breakdowns, which are slow, "chuggy" and intense passages that are conductive to moshing.
